Executive Team - Michael Giannini
Michael Giannini is an Officer of SIR Management, Inc., where he is responsible for the oversight of SIR Management and the thirteen Long Term Care facilities under consulting agreements. For over a quarter of a century, Mr. Giannini has directed the operations of nursing homes, psychological care facilities and physical rehabilitation centers, in which twenty of those years have been spent with SIR Management. The services at SIR Management facilities in the Chicago metro area include Rehabilitation, Advanced Acute Care, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Alzheimer's/Dementia Care Services, On-Site Dialysis, Hospice Care, Bariatric Care, Respite Care and Adult Day Care.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Giannini worked in city government as the Director of Finance and Administration for the City of Chicago and Business Manager for the City of Niles Park District. In the mid-eighties, Mr. Giannini served as Bureau Chief of Long Term Care for the Illinois Department of Public Aid. It was here that his commitment to providing quality care for seniors and the mentally disabled was established. During his tenure, Mr. Giannini accompanied the field staff on various nursing home quality incentive surveys where he met residents and inspected their living environments. Those visits inspired him to leave government service to further his career as a real resident advocate charged with the commitment of developing and fostering more home-like nursing home environments and quality care delivery systems.
As the State of Illinois’ resident authority during this time, Mr. Giannini was invited to speak throughout the country as an expert in quality nursing home care systems and governmental rate setting methodologies for Long Term Care facilities. Mr. Giannini participated in the design and ultimately led the implementation of the highly recognized Quality Incentive Program (QUIP) for Nursing Facilities in Illinois. This program was honored by the Fold Foundation, in conjunction with Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, as one of the most innovative programs in state and local government.
Mr. Giannini has been an active speaker on topics of Long Term Care, including the QUIP initiative in Illinois. The list of organizations which have solicited his expertise is extensive, and includes:
